SISTER ANGEL, REGGAE SINGER FROM DENMARK
Photographer Sabrina La Loca Larsen
Sister Angel AKA Eva Roholm was born in Copenhagen, Denmark. Her grandmother, opera singer Ida Roholm (Høst) was an inspiration as well as a singing
teacher for her.
She first listened to Bob Marley in 1976, and since then he had a great influence on her music. She converted to the Rastafarian faith at 18, this is very much reflected in her lyrics.
Reggae has been the main music in her life since the 70`s. She plays a little guitar, but her voice is her main instrument. In her teens she sang in the local church choir, later she went busking in the streets of Copenhagen, around the same time she started to write her own songs.
She has been working with a lot of different people, she had a duo with another Danish girl which was called Double Rizla. She was a member of an all female Reggae band called The Earlybirds. She tried to find members for a Reggae band, who were playing classical instruments, this project was shortlived as the members had other commitments.
Sister Angel first appeared on the Danish reggae scene about 20 years ago in a talentshow arranged by Skyjuice Promotion.
She was also the leadsinger of the Reggae band called Survivors about 13 years ago. They performed at the Malmø Festival, Grey Hall in Christiania and various venues in Copenhagen and around Denmark.
Now she has returned, stronger than ever, with a repertoire of old and new songs. This is the first time she is getting a song released. She is still cooperating with Skyjuice and SJP records.
She has a sweet voice and writes songs that are thought provoking.... And that is exactly her goal.......
